ALFF 2012 Audience Choice Award for Best Canadian Documentary

Congratulations to Charles Wilkinson and his film Peace Out for being chosen by Yukon audiences for the ALFF Audience Choice Award for Best Canadian Documentary. The award was presented by Yukon filmmaker, Dennis Allen, on behalf of the festival and the award’s co-sponsor the National Film Board of Canada, before the final screening of the festival on Sunday night. Ten films were eligible for the audience choice award and all 10 averaged at least 8 of 10 for average ratings when all the ballots were calculated. The runner-up for the award was Joel Heath’s People of a Feather.

Films newly confirmed for ALFF 2012 include documentaries Smokin’ Fish (from Juneau, AK!), and To Make a Farm (from Regina, SK!), and 2011 Top Ten Canadian Film, Monsieur Lazhar. Check out the list of guest directors who will be attending ALFF 2012. The festival schedule will be online Jan 11. Individual tickets on sale Jan 12.

We’re gearing up at the Yukon Film Society for the 10th anniversary Available Light Film Festival with plans to present 30 films and several anniversary events.
This is an open call for submissions of films and single channel media art works over 60 minutes in length. Deadline is Nov 1. Details in the full news entry.
